Emi Buendia to Arsenal transfer latest: Odds shorten on star joining Gunners
Emiliano Buendia is in to 11/8 to join Arsenal before the January Transfer Window deadline as Mikel Arteta goes on the hunt for more creativity through the middle.
Buendia, who averaged more than three chances created per match in Norwich’s top flight campaign last term, has been linked with a move to north London this month. That productivity rate is significantly higher than any member of the Gunners squad this term and has prompted the Premier League club’s hierarchy to sit up and take notice.
Buendia was nomintated for the Sky Bet Championship player award for December after scoring four and assisting three to put Norwich well on course for an immediate return to the Premier League.
The Canaries are adamant Buendia will not be sold in the January window with more than three years remaining on his current deal. It leaves the Championship club in a strong bargaining position amid reports the the 24-year-old will command a fee in the region of £40million.
Emile Smith Rowe’s continued progress has perhaps eased the urgency for reinforcement at Arsenal. Smith Rowe broke the deadlock in their 2-0 victory over Newcastle on Saturday and impressed in their 4-0 victory over West Brom to kick-start 2021.
However, Arteta continues to trim the fat from his squad this month with a view to adding some flair before the February 2 deadline.
Favourite Buendia is in from 2/1 to move to Emirates Stadium, while Isco (4/1) and former Tottenham star Christian Eriksen (6/1) are also among the most likely to join Arsenal.
It comes amid reports summer target Houssem Aouar has been bumped down Arteta’s wishlist this month after being alerted to concerns from club scouts.
