A different name will be engraved on the Carabao Cup trophy for the first time since 2017 after holders Manchester City were knocked out on penalties at West Ham in the last 16.

There will be at least one London club in February’s Wembley final after Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham booked their places in the last four this week.

Arsenal cruised past League One Sunderland, the Blues beat West London rivals Brentford and Spurs bettered West Ham in a tightly-contested London derby.

Liverpool, who last won the League Cup in 2012, needed a last-gasp equaliser and penalties to squeeze past Leicester in a thriller at Anfield.
