Edu confirms talks with Arsenal for Director of Football role
Edu has confirmed he has held talks with Arsenal over becoming the club’s new Director of Football.
The former Arsenal midfielder currently acts as a coordinator for the Brazil national team but has been tipped to join the Gunners this summer.
Earlier this year Arsenal missed out on appointing Monchi, who returned to his ex-club Sevilla to take up a technical role.

The Guardian previously suggested Edu will join Arsenal on July 7th, after the Copa America, while reports in Brazil claim a five-year deal has been agreed.
But Edu insists talks have been put on hold until after the Copa America.
“Yes, I had a conversation with Arsenal about the interest,” he said.
“But I was very clear: I told them I was 100% focused on the Copa America. I’m not going to talk about anything because of the Copa America.
“If you want to speak with me after the Copa, propose something after the Copa, we can arrange a time to speak. Anything before, the Copa America is my full focus.”

Edu made over 100 appearances under Arsene Wenger between 2001 and 2005, winning two Premier League titles and two FA Cups.
The 40-year-old was part of Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ side, playing 30 times in the 2003/04 Premier League title-winning campaign.
Prior to stepping into his role with Brazil, Edu was sporting director at Corinthians where he received plaudits for his work in the transfer market.
Sven Mislintat, who Arsenal hired from Borussia Dortmund, left his role as club’s head of recruitment in February after just 14 months.
