Eddie Howe insists Bournemouth are “very keen” to keep the club’s best players this summer, including Ryan Fraser.

Fraser, who has been linked with Arsenal, has just one year left on his contract but Howe says Bournemouth are “confident” he will stay.

Will Ryan Fraser leave Bournemouth this summer? Five key things to know…

  • Fraser enjoyed a fine season last term, scoring seven goals across all competitions.
  • He has subsequently been linked with Arsenal.
  • The 25-year-old has just one year left on his Bournemouth contract.
  • Eddie Howe says Fraser is no closer to signing a new deal but remains “confident” he will stay.
  • Only Eden Hazard (15) registered more Premier League assists than Fraser (14) last season.

The Scotland international provided 14 assists in the Premier League last term, striking up an impressive partnership with forward Callum Wilson.

Bournemouth are set to take part in their fifth successive top-flight campaign, and Howe wants Fraser and his other star performers to stay put for 2019/20.

“No developments in terms of that situation (Fraser’s contract). It goes in line with what I said earlier – we are very keen to keep our best players,” Howe told the Bournemouth Echo.

“I am confident that we can keep the squad together and keep adding players the other way to make us improve.

“I think it (the speculation) is part and parcel of being a footballer at this level.

“Especially if you’re excelling and doing well, you’re going to have people talk about you, write about you and speculate.

“I would urge any player in that situation to ignore the talk and just play football and do what you do best. I think Ryan’s done that very well.”

Bournemouth completed their third summer signing this week, bringing in Danish midfielder Philip Billing from Huddersfield Town for a reported £15m fee.

The Cherries begin their Premier League campaign against Sheffield United at home next month.
