Ecuador vs Peru build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:
Ecuador have qualified for just one of the last three World Cups but if the early stages of this current qualifying campaign are anything to go by, they could make a return to the big stage next year. La Tri are third after five games with impressive victories over Uruguay (4-2), Colombia (6-1) and Bolivia (3-2) leaving them on nine points. That said, Ecuador did lose 2-0 to Brazil last time out.
Things couldn’t be more contrasting for Peru who, after a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Colombia last time out, prop up the qualifying group with just one point from their opening five games. La Blanquirroja ended an eight-tournament absence at the World Cup in 2018 but if they don’t turn things around quickly, Qatar 2022 will be nothing more than a pipedream.
- Ecuador (vs Brazil): Dominguez; Angelo Preciado, Arboleda, Arreaga, Estupinan; Franco, Mendez, Gruezo, Ayrton Preciado; Mena, Valencia.
- Peru (vs Colombia): Gallese; Corzo, Ramos, Abram, Trauco; Yotun, Tapia; Advincula, Cueva, Carillo; Guerrero.
Ecuador have no absences to report ahead of this match. Peru, meanwhile, are without the suspended Miguel Trauco who picked up two yellow cards against Colombia last time out while Cristofer Gonzalez has withdrawn from the squad through injury.

Players to watch: Enner Valencia (Ecuador)
After a solid season for Fenerbahce, in which he scored a team-high 12 goals in 29 Super Lig starts, Enner Valencia will be looking to end a 19-month wait for an international goal.
The 31-year-old has an incredible record at international level, with no player scoring more than his 31 goals for Ecuador. The fact that he’s achieved that feat in just 57 caps at an average of 0.55 goals per game speaks to just how important he is to his nation.
But Valencia hasn’t found the net since a 3-0 friendly win over Trinidad and Tobago in November 2019. If Ecuador are to consolidate their fine start to this qualifying campaign, they’re going to need their record goalscorer firing on all cylinders.
