No. 1 seed Daniil Medvedev has cantered to the Fourth Round of the US Open, beating homegrown talent Stefan Kozlov in his curtain-raiser, before eliminating Arthur Rinderknech and taking down qualifier contender Wu Yibing, all in straight sets, underlining his status as the current best on hard court across the Atlantic.
Medvedev will be competing to to become the first man born in the 90s to claim multiple major singles titles. The 26-year-old will also be looking to become the first man to defend his US Open title since Roger Federer in 2008. Huge shoes to fill, but Medvedev has made a very promising start.
Nick Kyrgios has enjoyed his best year on the court in his controversial career. The Aussie won the Australian Open doubles earlier this year before reaching his first Grand Slam final as an individual, appearing in Wimbledon’s illustrious showpiece back in July. He will hope his current purple patch continues in the States.
