Third seed for Wimbledon, Daniil Medvedev will be looking to continue his run in the tournament as he searches for what would be just a second Grand Slam win. The 27-year-old had a good period in 2021 and the start of 2022, achieving his best finishes at all the Grand Slams, including two final appearances at the Australian Open on top of his US Open success. At Wimbledon in 2021, Medvedev made it to the fourth round for the first time, but lost in five sets to Hubert Hurkacz, a minor shock given it was second seed against 14th.

It’s been a pretty underwhelming year at Grand Slams for Medvedev so far, with a third-round exit at the Australian Open and first-round departure at Roland Garros, but the 27-year-old will have an eye on the third round at Wimbledon. Medvedev opened the tournament with a routine three-set victory in the first round, beating British wildcard entry Arthur Fery 7-5, 6-4, 6-3.

Meanwhile, Adrian Mannarino is participating in the main draw at Wimbledon for the 12th year but will be looking to make it past the second round for just the fourth time. Each of the previous three occasions Mannarino has won his first two games of the main draw, the Frenchman has made it to the fourth round before exiting, most recently in 2018.

However, since that run to the fourth round, Mannarino has suffered two first-round exits and one in the second round — with Tommy Paul beating him at this stage last year. Like Medvedev, Mannarino enjoyed a straight-set victory in his first round at Wimbledon this year, beating Alexander Shevchenko 6-3, 6-3, 6-2.

Prediction: Daniil Medvedev in straight sets
