Heading into this latest round of EuroLeague fixtures Crvena Zvezda (6-6) will be seeking to extend a five-game winning streak. Last time out they edged out city rivals Partizan Belgrade 73-76 with Nemanja Nedovic registering 30 points including the game-winning three-pointer. “We are playing well and have a winning streak, but we could soon be on a losing streak. It is a long competition, it is expected to have ups and down,” Crvena Zvezda head coach Dusko Ivanovic said afterwards.
As for Zalgiris (6-6), they’ve lost their last two games at home, but have won two of their last three on the road and will look to claim another scalp in Serbia’s capital. In their most recent outing, Zalgiris produced a season-low 60 points in a loss to reigning champion Anadolu Efes Istanbul. The oft-reliable Keenan Evans (15.1 ppg and 4.2 apg.) had a season-low four points and a PIR of three in that game. “Anadolu Efes happened,” Kazys Maksvytis, Zalgiris Kaunas head coach said. “First of all, we had a terrible effort defensively: 27 points in the third quarter with only 1 team foul. So, we need to be hard workers. We don’t have such talent as Efes. We need to start from defence.”
