Serbian rivals Crvena Zvezda and Partizan meet in a EuroLeague game at Aleksandar Nikolic Hall on Friday evening (6 pm, UK time).

Zvezda was victorious in December’s meeting, the first-ever showdown between these Belgrade powerhouses in the EuroLeague, with a dramatic game-winner from Nemanja Nedovic. Another win for the hosts would seal a potentially lucrative tie-break advantage and effectively provide a three-game lead over their city rivals Partizan.

Crvena Zvezda (10-10) will be seeking a return to successful ways following a 71-66 loss at Zalgiris Kaunas last time out. That setback was the Serb’s second loss in three outings. In fact, they haven’t lost back-to-back EuroLeague games since round seven when a 93-79 loss to Fenerbache came on the back of an 85-77 defeat to Monaco. Shooting guard Nemanja Nedovic leads the way for Red Star when it comes to PPG (14.6) while point guard Luca Vildoza is their leading assist-maker (4.1 per game). Nedovic also heads into this latest round of fixtures having scored 11 or more points in nine straight and 27 of his last 28 games. He also needs four assists to reach 500 for his career.

As for Partizan (9-11) they’re also on a one-game losing streak. Partizan’s loss at Valencia (89-81) was only their second defeat across seven previous EuroLeague outings. Shooting guard Kevin Punter is Partizan’s leading scorer, he’s currently averaging 15 points per game. Punter is also the sides creator alongside point guard Dante Exum, both averaging 2.4 assists per game. On top of that Punter has collected at least one steal in seven straight and 11 of his last 12 games. He’s tied for 10th this season in steals with 1.2 per game. Exum, meanwhile, has scored at least 10 points in his last eight games.
