Copa Libertadores group stage: Live stream and kick off times

Published: 14:30, 19 May 2021

The 2021 Copa Libertadores group stage is in full swing and teams are starting to secure qualification to the next round.

Less than three months after Palmeiras were crowned champions of the 2020 Copa Libertadores, the next edition of South America’s biggest club tournament got underway, with 32 teams entering at the group stages after three rounds of qualifying which saw the likes of Gremio and Universidad de Chile bow out.

South American giants such as River Plate, Boca Juniors, Palmeiras, Sao Paulo, Internacional, Flamengo and Nacional are all still involved with 16 qualifying for the knockout stages and a further eight dropping down into the Copa Sudamericana, mimicking UEFA’s Champions League and Europa League link.

Confirmed knockout stage teams

As we are midway through the penultimate round of group stage fixtures, five teams have already confirmed their spot in the last-16 of the Copa Libertadores, including holders Palmeiras. The Brazilian side will finish top of Group A having opened up a four-point gap over second-placed Defensa y Justicia, who have also secured qualification. They are joined by Argentina’s Racing and Argentinos Juniors, and Atletico Mineiro, with the latter only needing four games to seal their spot.

But with just five teams through, that means there are still 11 slots to fill with some teams hoping to do that before the final matchweek at the end of May, including River Plate and Flamengo.

  • Palmeiras
  • Defensa y Justicia
  • Racing
  • Argentinos Juniors
  • Atletico Mineiro
