Copa America 2021 build-up:

Brazil head into this summer’s Copa America once again looking to retain the trophy.

The Seleção won South America’s most prestigious international tournament back-to-back in the 1990s and 2000s and after emerging as the 2019 champions, they have the chance to join Argentina and Uruguay as the only nations to retain the Copa America on three or more occasions.

Of course, without a title since 1993, Argentina will have something to say about that and Lionel Messi will be desperate to end his international duck. Uruguay are also giants at this level and, powered by the goals of Luis Suarez, will provide a serious threat this summer.

In reality, there are no easy Copa America games, with the likes of Colombia and Chile able to field strong sides, while even usual whipping boys Bolivia enter the tournament in decent form.
