Does the Club World Cup go to penalties?
The Club World Cup is a knockout competition, meaning that a draw after 90 minutes wouldn’t be the end of the contest. But what happens if a match does end in a tie?
If a match is tied after normal playing time:
- For elimination matches, extra time is played. If still tied after extra time, a penalty shoot-out is held to determine the winner.
- For the match for third place, no extra time is played, and a penalty shoot-out is held to determine the winner.
