This doesn’t appear to be a great matchup for the Browns here. Joe Burrow has really hit his straps in recent weeks, scoring touchdowns and hitting a rating over 125 in the Bengals’ last match against the Chiefs. Burrow has taken victory over Mahomes in three consecutive matches against the Chiefs now and the confidence that the Bengals QB is playing with looks to be unbreakable.

The reason that it looks particularly bad for the Browns is because of their record of defending against the wide receivers. Josh Allen and Tua Tagovailoa are two elite quarterbacks that have led their teams to recent victories against the Browns, Joe Burrow probably has even more options than those two at the moment as well. Ja’Marr Chase was on fire last time out with Burrow completing to Chase on seven of eight attempts. Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd also combined for big yards which is an indication as to why the Bengals sit 2nd on pass completion, and 3rd in both passing touchdowns and pass yards for the season.

As if life wasn’t tough enough for the Browns dealing with Burrow, Samaje Perine really showed up against the Chiefs, picking up over 100 rushing yards. This could spell some trouble for Cleveland as their rush defense has allowed the 7th most yards per carry in the NFL this season.

However, despite all of this, one cannot ignore the atrocious recent record of the Bengals against the Browns. Cleveland thrashed Cincinnati earlier this year and that made it five in a row in this divisional rivalry. Indeed, the Browns have lost only once to the Bengals in the last nine meetings of the two. This cannot be totally discounted, despite the apparent upper hand of the Bengals at the moment.

I would back Joe Burrow and the Bengals to turn that head-to-head record around on Sunday.
