Chelsea confirm deal for Hakim Ziyech as Ajax reveal financial details of move
Ajax have confirmed Hakim Ziyech will join Chelsea this summer in a deal that could rise to €44 million (£36.7m).
Ziyech will become Chelsea’s first signing since the club’s transfer ban was lifted. The ban prevented the Londoners from signing any players last summer and there were no arrivals in January.
In a statement posted to their official website, Ajax revealed the financial details of the deal, confirming Chelsea will play an initial €40m (£33.3m) which could rise to €44m “with variable factors”.
Ziyech was contracted to Ajax until the summer of 2022 but is now set to move to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have confirmed the transfer is “subject to the player agreeing personal terms”.
The Moroccan played a starring role as Ajax won the domestic double and reached the Champions League semi-finals last season, scoring memorable goals against Real Madrid and Tottenham in the knockout stages.

The 26-year-old has also appeared 32 times for his country, scoring 12 goals. He was named in the Confederation of African Football Team of the Year in 2019.
