Pick 1. Bournemouth (4/6) to win v Barnsley
As it stand, Bournemouth are on course for a Premier League return. Scott Parker’s men are third and two points off the automatic qualification places with a game in hand. They should fancy themselves against Barnsley, who prop up the Championship table. Not only have Bournemouth won four of their last five games against them, subsequently keeping a clean sheet in four, the Yorkshire club picked up just one victory across 22 previous Championship matches, losing 14 of those outings.
Pick 2. Fulham (6/5) over 2.5 goals v Blackpool
Relentless doesn’t begin to describe Fulham this season. They are by some distance the Championship’s most ruthless team. Marco Silva’s men top the league table and have registered 73 goals across 27 league games so far, which is at least 28 more than any other side. Earlier this month, Fulham equalled an 88-year record when they became the first English side to score six goals or more in three successive matches. On top of that, no fewer than 12 were struck in their last two Championship outings at home.
Pick 3. Preston (10/11) to win v Bristol City
The chances of Preston North End ending a 61-year wait to play top division football is unlikely to end this season. The Lilywhites are currently in mid-table and eight points adrift of the play-off spots. That said, Ryan Lowe’s men are unbeaten in their last four home games, as for this weekend’s opponents Bristol City have lost six of their last seven on the road. Also, they’ve returned home from eight previous Deepdale trips without a win.
Pick 4. QPR (1/2) to win v Reading
Things are looking promising for Queens Park Rangers heading into the final stretch. The former Premier League mainstays are within striking distance of automatically going up this season. Momentum is also currently on their side as they’re unbeaten in five (which includes four wins). As for Reading, they are currently on a five-game losing streak across all competitions, while only Peterborough (12) and Barnlsey (10) have lost more away games in the Championship than them (8) this term.
Pick 5. Nottingham Forest (8/5) to win v Cardiff City
A huge FA Cup third-round win over Arsenal has coincided with an uptick in league form for Nottingham Forest. The two-time European champions have won each of their last four games in all competitions, with three of those games ending in them keeping a clean sheet. Meanwhile, it’s a distinctly different outlook for Cardiff, who have lost nine of their last 10 home games in English football’s second tier.
