Cardiff City will look to extend their six-game unbeaten streak when they host Reading in the Championship on Friday.

The Bluebirds beat West Brom 2-1 last time out, knocking the Baggies off top spot and keeping themselves in with an outside chance of making the play-offs.

Reading, meanwhile are four without a win in all competitions and have slipped to 15th in the Championship table.

This is the second time in a week these two have faced off having already played out a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup, while the replay is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, so Cardiff and Reading will be getting quite familiar with each other.

Will Neil Harris’ men keep up their momentum or will the Royals get back on track? Read on for our Cardiff City vs Reading preview, predictions, team news and more.

Ones to watch

Cardiff City: Lee Tomlin

Cardiff City’s Lee Tomlin (17) celebrates scoring his side’s first goal of the game during the Sky Bet Championship match at The Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff.

Cardiff are still well in with a shout of making the Championship play-offs but to keep the pressure on those above them, three points against Reading is an absolute must.

Lee Tomlin has been an excellent attacking threat from midfield for Harris this season and netted once again from the bench against West Brom last time out.

Tomlin will be nice and fresh having only featured for 25 minutes against the Baggies, so Reading will have to keep close tabs on him.

Key stat: Tomlin has been directly involved in more Championship goals (12, six goals and six assists) than any other Cardiff player this season.

Reading: Yakou Meite

Yakou Meite hit the woodwork and created a chance during his 20-minute cameo from the bench against Bristol City on Tuesday, although his efforts still weren’t enough to stop Reading falling to a 1-0 defeat.

That said, the Ivorian showed he is well capable of adding an extra dimension to the Royals’ attack and will be pushing for a start in South Wales.

Key stat: Meite scored the equaliser when these two sides met in the FA Cup recently.

Team news

Cardiff City

Harris will be without Isaac Vassell, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Joe Ralls, Lee Peltier and Danny Ward for the visit of Reading.

Leandro Bacuna and Lee Tomlin are both likely to return to the midfield, although Harris will be reluctant to make too many changes from the side which beat West Brom last time out.

Yakou Meite will likely be put into the starting XI after an exciting cameo from the bench on Tuesday but Lucas Joao, Andy Yiadom and Matt Miazga are all out.

Tom McIntyre is available after serving a suspension.

Squawka prediction

The second clash in a three-part series between these two, Cardiff certainly head into Friday’s game in better form.

That, coupled with home advantage should give the Bluebirds the edge, although they haven’t beat Reading since November 2015, so Harris won’t be taking anything for granted.

Scoreline prediction: Cardiff City 2-1 Reading
