Villarreal’s victory was arguably the surprise result of the first legs as six-time European champions Bayern Munich struggled from the offset in Spain.
Keeping Robert Lewandowski quiet once is hard enough, but twice? That’s unheard of, and Bayern will be looking to their Polish striker – who has 12 Champions League goals so far this season – to fire them into the semi-finals.

Diego Simeone’s side failed to record a single shot on target at the Etihad Stadium last week, and only managed one at the weekend against relegation-threatened Mallorca as they lost 1-0. Joao Felix was rested, however, and that freshness will be required if Atletico are to turn this one around.
City on the other hand were close to their devastating best in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday, and in truth probably should have won the match.

Last week’s scoreline flattered Liverpool somewhat as Benfica certainly caused them problems at times, but the idea of Jurgen Klopp’s side letting this one slip away borders on parody.
The Portuguese side will pose a goal threat however, with Darwin Nunez having scored six times in his last four matches – including their only goal in Lisbon last time out. He also bagged a hat-trick in their victory over Belenenses on Sunday.
