Brentford team news

Brentford have cruised to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup this season, beating lower league opposition in each of their three rounds so far. Their journey started with a 3-1 win over League Two side Forest Green and another 7-0 victory against Oldham Athletic from the same division. In the last round, Brentford managed a 2-1 win over Stoke City and they’ve had inconsistent form since then in the Premier League, losing three, winning two and drawing two of their past seven matches. But the Bees have not played for 10 days, seeing two games postponed, and are without a host of players including Ethan Pinnock, David Raya, Kristoffer Ajer and Zanka.

Brentford predicted XI: Fernandez; Janelt, Goode, Jansson; Roerslev Rasmussen, Baptiste, Jensen, Norgaard, Henry; Mbeumo, Wissa.

Chelsea team news

Chelsea have had a rough ride to the quarter-finals, needing penalty shootouts to beat Premier League opposition in each of their two rounds so far. Both games, against Aston Villa and Southampton, saw the Blues take the lead in normal time only to be pegged back and rely on spot-kicks. Reece James and Kepa Arrizabalaga were the heroes in both shootouts, with the latter scoring the winning penalty against Aston Villa and then Southampton. But Chelsea aren’t in good form right now, and struggling for personnel, scrapping to a goalless draw against Wolves at the weekend. They remain without Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ben Chilwell, but Jorginho, Kai Havertz, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Trevoh Chalobah, Andreas Christensen and Hakim Ziyech are all less than 100%.

Chelsea predicted XI: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Sarr; James, Saul, Kovacic, Barkley, Alonso; Mount, Pulisic.

Scoreline prediction: Brentford 1-1 Chelsea
