After falling in round three at Roland Garros a few weeks ago, Brandon Nakashima is on the cusp of a semi-final berth at Wimbledon. Last time out the American youngster made light work of Daniel Elahi Galan to record his best grand slam result. So far this year Nakashima has picked up 10 grass court wins albeit some of those have come at the Challenger level. This will be his second quarter-final appearance on grass following a maiden showdown ‘s-Hertogenbosch last month.
A testy meeting between rivals Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas last time out ended in the Aussie’s favour. This was Kyrgios’ second comeback win against the Greek on grass in 2022 after picking up a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 success at Halle a few weeks ago where he’d go on to reach the semi-final. In fact, he’s made two semi-final appearances and won 10 matches while suffering two losses on grass this year. Kyrgios has never played a Grand Slam semi-final, his two previous QF appearances ended in a loss to Andy Murray (2015 Australian Open) and Milos Raonic (2014 Wimbledon).
