Bournemouth and Aston Villa square off in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

It’s a match of great importance, considering where both clubs are presently sat, in the bottom five and separated by two points.

A win for Bournemouth coupled with other results going their way could see Eddie Howe’s men escape the relegation zone. As for their visitors, the Villans are in buoyant mood after securing a place in this season’s EFL Cup final with Dean Smith hopeful of using that momentum to drag them away from what could be a dramatic relegation scrap.

Ones to watch

Bournemouth: Callum Wilson

Callum Wilson could finally breathe a sense of relief after ending a 15-game goal drought. His team needed that, with Bournemouth entrenched in a relegation battle. Eddie Howe’s men have fallen by the wayside in recent weeks and that has subsequently dragged them into what should be a fascinating fight for survival. Wilson will be hoping he can make it back-to-back matches with a goal against a seemingly resurgent Aston Villa side.

Key stat: Callum Wilson ended a 22-hour goalscoring drought last time out against Brighton.

Aston Villa: Jack Grealish

A big reason as to why Villa will be dangerous on the south coast this weekend is their captain and talisman Jack Grealish, who Pep Guardiola hailed as “one of the best players in the league” during the week. He’s stepped up just when the Birmingham-based club needed him the most and goes into Saturday’s showdown having scored in each of his last two Premier League away trips.

Key stat: Only Kevin De Bruyne (63) has created more chances from open play than Jack Grealish (50) in this season’s Premier League.

Squawka prediction

Both teams are desperate for all three points and given their defensive fragilities it could be an entertaining contest. Villa, though, have a match-winner to call upon and we can see Grealish’s magic settling this affair.

Scoreline prediction: Bournemouth 1-2 Aston Villa
