FC Lorient midfielder Alexis Claude-Maurice confirms he wants to join Borussia Monchengladbach amid strong Premier League links.

The 21-year-old French under-20 international has been heavily associated with a move to Arsenal and West Ham.

Who is Alexis Claude-Maurice? Five things to know…

  • Age: 21
  • Position: Midfielder
  • Career path so far: FC Lorient
  • Key stat: Claude-Maurice scored the second-highest number of Ligue 2 goals (14) for Lorient in 2018/19.
  • Did you know? Claude-Maurice scored three Ligue 2 goals in 2017/18, with two of those assisted by Arsenal’s Matteo Guendouzi.

Since coming up through FC Lorient’s academy Claude-Maurice has gone on to make 59 appearances in all competitions for the first team registering 18 goals and creating four more.

A left-sided midfielder, who is also capable of playing behind the centre-forward or on the flank, Claude-Maurice sees his present deal with the Ligue 2 club expire in June 2021 but feels he’s ready to make a step-up this summer.

With Les Merlus failing to secure promotion to the French top-flight, it now looks certain the Parisian will leave the Stade du Moustoir, and he has now revealed his ideal transfer would be to the Bundesliga.
