Open to four-year-olds only, the Premier Handicap race takes centre stage at Cheltenham at around 4.50pm (GMT).

Punters will be hoping for another exciting climax to the day’s penultimate event, with the last year’s edition seeing Brazil pip hot favourite Gaelic Warrior to the post.

Jockey Mark Walsh subsequently became the first multiple winner of this race, having also steered Aramax to glory in 2020.

A winner in two of his last four runs, Byker – ridden by Philip Byrnes – is widely seen as the favourite for this one. History also favours his chances, with Irish runners winning the last five editions of the race.

But he will face stiff competition from the likes of Danny Mullins’ Sir Allen, who has come on top in his last two runs.

That included the same Naas novice hurdle that has produced three of the last four winners of this race.
