The League of Ireland Premier Division 2020 season continues on Friday evening (5:45pm) with a top-of-the-table clash between Bohemians and Dundalk at Dalymount Park.

Third-placed Bohemians enter this match on the back of a two-game winning run, having kept back-to-back clean sheets and maximum reward against Shelbourne and Cork City. A win for Keith Long’s side would take them above Dundalk and three points closer to current table-toppers Shamrock Rovers.

For the visitors, they currently occupy the runners-up position but know a win would edge them to within two points of Shamrock, who play Derry City on Sunday. The Lilywhites drew in their previous match against St Patrick’s Athletic so will be eager to get back to winning ways later this week.

With six games played so far following the postponement of the league in mid-March, things are already beginning to heat up once again, as the division returned to action last week.

Bohemians & Dundalk’s previous line-ups:

  • Bohemians (vs Cork City): McGuinness; Lyons, Cornwall, Casey, Breslin; Buckley, Lunney, Devoy, Twardek, Grant; Wright.
  • Dundalk (vs St Patrick’s Athletic): Rogers; Gannon, Cleary, Boyle, Massey; Shields, Flores, Colovic, Sloggett, Duffy; Hoban.

Former West Brom youngster Andre Wright brought up goal number two for the season as he netted the winner against Cork City, and he will be expected to lead the line once again as he chases current top scorer Patrick Hoban (six), who will be at the opposite end of the pitch on Friday.

Player to watch:

The League of Ireland Premier Division only returned to action last week but Dundalk fans will be itching to catch a glimpse of Nathan Oduwa, who was picked up on a free transfer during the shutdown at the end of March.

The Tottenham Hotspur graduate is a familiar face in the Football League and in Scotland having enjoyed fruitful spells at Luton Town in 2015 but more recognisably with Rangers in the 2015/16 season, where he attempted a rainbow flick on his debut.

The Bloomsbury-born winger ultimately failed to make the grade in north London and left the capital for risky pastures, first plying his trade in Slovenia with Olimpija Ljubljana, then Denmark with Vejle Boldklub and most recently Israel with Hapoel Hadera.

Quite the nomadic experience for a 24-year-old, but he will now be hoping to find some consistency and longevity in the League of Ireland Premier Division. He made his debut last Friday as a substitute, but he will be pushing for a start this time round.

Scoreline prediction: Bohemians 1-2 Dundalk
