Wigan registered their first victory of their Championship camapign last time out as they defeated Birmingham 1-0 despite having Joe Bennett sent-off in the tenth minute. The result means they are unbeaten in their four matches played having drawn their opening three.
At the DW Stadium, the Latics have played two and drawn two as they battled out a point in games against Bristol City and Preston. The Lancashire unit have lost just twice in the league at their own place in 2022.
Burnley were in action in the League Cup in midweek where a Samuel Bastien goal saw them past League One side Shrewsbury. In the league, they were 3-1 up and coasting against Blackpool but in the end it finished 3-3 to stretch their winless Championship run to four.
Away from Turf Moor, the Clarets have played twice this season defeating Huddersfield on the opening day and losing at Vicarage Road to Watford. If you add in their League Cup fixture then all three of their road trips have ended 1-0.
Wigan vs Burnley Match Stats
The draw looks the best bet here given that Wigan are tough to beat at their own place and Burnley have yet to find their top gear. The Latics have drawn three of their four played so far. The Clarets are also something of a draw specialist having seen three of their last four in the second-tier ending all-square.
You can expand the price on the draw by taking a combination trio of correct scorelines (1-1, 2-2 and 3-3) with Sky Bet. Three of the last four for the visitors have come by one of these scorelines. If you are looking just at the Latics then three of their last five at this level have also ended by one of these scorelines.
21 April 2014- Burnley 2-0 Wigan- Championship
29 December 2013- Wigan 0-0 Burnley- Championship
20 March 2010- Wigan 1-0 Burnley- Premier League
24 October 2009- Burnley 1-3 Wigan- Premier League
28 December 2004- Burnley 1-0 Wigan- Championship
These two sides have not met in a competitive fixture since April 2014 so it is hard to read too much into their head-to-head record. For what it is worth it has been mixed results in their last five with two wins each and one draw. None of their last three and just one of their last four meetings have gone over 2.5 goals.
