West Ham vs Southampton: Predictions
In what has been an utterly miraculous season for West Ham, David Moyes can put the gloss on 2020/21 by securing sixth and sealing Europa League football for the club, a predicament unthinkable 12 months ago given the club were fighting tooth and nail to beat the drop.
With Tottenham coming up short at home to Aston Villa and the Hammers overcoming a stern test against a resilient West Brom in midweek, the London rivals traded places, and now, Moyes has the opportunity to welcome fans back to the London Stadium and consolidate Europa League qualification.
With Ryan Mason’s team playing a Leicester side who simply need to win if they are to give themselves a hope of making the top four, West Ham may get away with folding against Southampton and still finishing in sixth, but Moyes will not want to rely on results elsewhere, and the returning supporters will no doubt with them an added incentive.
For Southampton, a win could take them as high as 12th, concluding the campaign in relative style following their mid-season collapse. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s job will be to make sure complacency doesn’t creep in, given the Saints have little to play for other than pride.

West Ham vs Southampton: Match Stats
Few players have encapsulated the dogged determination and post-festive devastation of West Ham more than Man Utd loanee Jesse Lingard. Since his debut for the club in early-February, only Kelechi Iheanacho (14) has been involved in more Premier League goals than him (13; nine goals, four assists). In fact, the record tally for goals-assists in a Premier League season for a player who didn’t appear until as late as February is 15 by Bruno Fernandes last campaign for Man Utd (eight goals, seven assists).

West Ham rarely boast formidable records against Premier League clubs, but they are unbeaten in their last six Premier League meetings with Southampton, winning five in a row before their 0-0 draw earlier this season. In a slight crumb of comfort for those returning fans: since losing three in a row between 2013/14 and 2015/16, the hosts haven’t lost their final league game in any of the last four campaigns.
