West Ham vs Manchester City: Predictions
After a tentative start to the Premier League season, Manchester City have rediscovered their touch, returning from the international break with a confidence-boosting 1-0 win over Arsenal, and they will look to follow up at the London Stadium against West Ham.
That 5-2 capitulation at the hands of Leicester City last month now doesn’t look quite so significant following the club’s recent triumph over Arsenal, which still keeps Pep Guardiola’s side six points adrift Everton — who currently occupy top spot — but with a game in hand.
If recent history is anything to go by then this weekend’s matchup against the Hammers will be a routine victory. Guardiola has a flawless record against the east London club (nine wins from nine games), while City have won each of their last five away matches in this fixture by an aggregate score of 22-1.
But, West Ham have rarely stuck to the script this season and have proven very unpredictable, typified by their last three results: wins over Wolves and Leicester, and that drama-soaked comeback against Tottenham. David Moyes will be hopeful of another upset.

West Ham vs Manchester City: Match Stats
Raheem Sterling nabbed his second Premier League goal of the season against Arsenal and he will be determined to net for the third game running. The England international has been directly involved in 11 goals across his last six Premier League starts against West Ham (six goals, five assists). He also netted a hat-trick at the London Stadium in City’s 5-0 win last season.
The Hammers will be wary of Sterling’s goalscoring threat, but Moyes will certainly look to try and mirror his side’s own exploits in the final third from their last three matches. West Ham have netted three or more goals in games against Spurs, Wolves and Leicester, and will be confident of breaching Ederson’s net, particularly if new signing Said Benrahma gets onto the pitch.

September 2015 was the last time West Ham tasted victory against City, with Slaven Bilic pulling off a 2-1 giantkiller at the Etihad. You would have to go back to 2014 for West Ham’s last win on home soil, with Sam Allardyce masterminding an emphatic win at Upton Park.
Since then this fixture has only gone one way. The Hammers have lost their last nine matches against City in all competitions, letting in at least four goals in each of their previous four home league matches, including last season’s opening-day 5-0 collapse.
