West Brom made a good start to their Championship campaign battling out a 1-1 draw at the Riverside against Middlesbrough. The draw was a fair result after the Baggies had a poor first 45 minutes but were much improved after the interval.
The Black Country outfit were strong at their own place last season winning 12, drawing eight and losing just three of their 23. They need to convert some of those draws into victories as only Preston drew more home ties.
Watford got their Championship campaign underway with a 1-0 home success over another strong side in Sheffield United. The opposition manager Paul Heckingbottom was full of praise for their front three of Emmanuel Dennis, Ismaila Sarr and goalscorer Joao Pedro calling them ‘the best front three in the division.’
The Hornets need to improve their road form having won just two of their last 15 competitive games on their travels. A lack of away goals is an issue that needs to be addressed with just five in their last ten.
West Brom vs Watford Match Stats
Both teams are blessed with excellent attacking talents with the home side starting with a front four of Karlan Grant, Jed Wallace, John Swift and Matt Phillips. We talked before about the quality Watford have in attack so backing both teams to score makes sense.
John Swift was excellent on the opening day for the Baggies and will benefit from not having the sole pressure to be the creator as was the case at Reading. He netted last week and had four shots (two of them on target) and he looks value to score here.

These sides have not met since March 2018 but the recent head-to-head record favours Watford who have won two, drawn one and lost just one of their last five clashes. In terms of games at the Hawthorns it is one win each and a draw from their last three.
