Burnley v West Brom prediction, live stream & tonight’s team news
Burnley v West Brom takes place on Friday at 8pm (UK time).
Burnley will be looking to keep their grip on top spot in the Championship while also continuing their good run of form. The Clarets are currently on course for an immediate return to the Premier League, sitting five points clear at the top of the Championship table and 16 ahead of third-placed Watford — the highest play-off spot, but Vincent Kompany is urging his side not to take anything for granted.
“I think complacency is the biggest threat there is to our game and the way we play at the moment. When it becomes complacent it becomes a little bit soft.” The Belgian told SkySports.
“Sean Dyche was here before me and this club has always been hard and had a natural aggressiveness about the players anyway. That grit is something that’s so important, and I wanted to carry that on just to see the ways we could make that even more a part of what we do.”I still feel they can get better, and that’s what we look for every day. If they weren’t so coachable and willing to improve, then I might not be as happy, but they’ve done incredibly well in that aspect.”
But this Friday they face a West Brom side who have recently lifted themselves into the play-off places thanks to a four-match winning run, moving two points clear of seventh-placed Norwich City.

Burnley team news
Ashley Westwood has officially made his move to MLS side Charlotte FC, joining his new team in training this week. Vincent Kompany has no injury concerns but will be without Jack Cork due to suspension. The English midfielder picked up his 10th yellow card of the season last time out and will miss the visit of West Brom and Championship game against Norwich City — though will be available to face Ipswich in the FA Cup next weekend.
On-loan defender Ian Maatsen has impressed greatly since his temporary move from Chelsea and manager Vincent Kompany has been delighted with his performances.
“Ian is doing exactly what he needs to be doing. “With his stature he’s not making the game about what the other players want, it’s about what he has in terms of his skill and tools.”
“He’s part of such a very strong list of players who have done really well for us this season. The ingredients are always the same. He’s got to be coachable in a sense that when he’s not doing well we’ve got to be able to tell him and eventually learn from his mistakes. He’s got to be willing to work hard, he does that terrifically, and get better.”He’s just turning into something that we expected him to be able to become. He’s a very, very versatile full-back with lots of energy and great potential.”
West Brom team news
Brandon Thomas-Asante was handed a three-match ban after an elbow on Jeff King in West Brom’s FA Cup draw against Chesterfield, which was initially missed during the game. The striker has already served two of his three-match ban, missing games against Luton and Chesterfield, with the trip to Burnley the final one.
The Baggies are also without Karlan Grant, Kenneth Zohore Erik Pieters and Kean Bryan.
