Watford appear to change divisions as much as they do managers and Rob Edwards, the man initially tasked with leading them back to the Premier League, has been sacked. It was a ruthless dismissal by the Watford board who were unhappy with Edwards’ start to life at Vicarage Road, feeling he had been given enough time to show the identity of his team.
The Hornets didn’t wait to long to appoint his replacement and Slaven Bilic has already had a game in charge, leading Watford to a 4-0 victory over Stoke City at the weekend. The win ended a three-match winless streak in the Championship and lifted Watford back up to seventh, just one point below the early play-off spots.
Just two points back from Watford are Swansea who currently sit 11th with four wins, three draws and four defeats from their opening 11 matches. The Swans have been slowly building under Russell Martin after securing a 15th-placed finish in his first season in charge and there were positives including the first ever South Wales Derby league double.
It has been a tough start to the season for Swansea as they won just one of their opening seven Championship matches, form which left them in the relegation zone. However, they have bounced back with three wins from their past four, including two in a row going into this game, only losing to Championship leaders Sheffield United during that run.
Watford vs Swansea match stats
It’s often the late show when Swansea are concerned with nine of the 27 goals in their Championship matches this season being scored in the 75th minute or later.
Of course, the amount of corners won will vary depending on the type of opposition faced (and how they set up), but Swansea have averaged 5.45 corners won per game in the Championship this season. At the same time, Watford’s average is 4.18 per game, with just four teams having a lower average.
