Uruguay vs Colombia Latest Prediction

Uruguay battled through a tough match against Brazil to reach their first Copa America semi-final since 2011, when they won the tournament.

There were 41 fouls committed, and Uruguay played with ten men in the second half after Nahitan Nandez was sent off following a VAR review for a harsh tackle on Rodrygo.

Despite being down a player, Uruguay took the match to penalties. During the shootout, Uruguay’s goalkeeper Sergio Rochet saved Brazil’s first penalty from Éder Militão, while his teammate Douglas Luiz hit the post.

Brazil’s goalkeeper Alisson Becker denied José Giménez, but Manuel Ugarte scored the decisive spot kick, securing Uruguay’s victory.

“It was a very tense match, against a very tough opponent, suffering in the last minutes a man down. But we showed character despite our youth,” Rochet said.

“The truth is that it is a tremendous happiness that this group deserves. The country deserves it. We are very excited, so we are going for more.”

The showdown between Uruguay and Brazil occurs at 1am on Thursday 11th July at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Juan Cuadrado, James Rodríguez, and Luis Díaz all scored goals in the first half to lead Colombia to a 5-0 victory over Panama in the Copa América quarterfinals on Saturday.

Colombia, who entered the match on a 26-match unbeaten streak, quickly extended their streak to 27 with Cuadrado’s well-placed header in the eighth minute, following a corner kick from Rodríguez.

Los Cafeteros then went 2-0 up less than 10 minutes later with Rodríguez scoring a powerful penalty kick. The penalty was awarded after Panama’s goalkeeper, Orlando Mosquera, tripped up Colombia’s Juan Arias.

James Rodríguez, aged 32, scored his 28th international goal, showing his excellence throughout the match against Panama.

“He’s a good player; there’s nothing to explain,” said Colombia head coach Néstor Lorenzo. “He’s a player who is happy inside the field.”

Colombia scored 3-0 in the 41st minute as Díaz skillfully chipped the ball over Mosquera, who had advanced during the counterattack. A precise pass from Rodríguez orchestrated the goal.

Richard Ríos and Miguel Borja completed the rout to send Colombia one game from reaching their first Copa América final since 2001, when they hosted and ended up as champions.

Additionally, Nahitan Nandez is serving a ban after receiving a straight red card. This means they will head into a semi-final against two-year unbeaten Colombia without two of their defensive pillars.

Colombia is set to receive a significant boost as Jefferson Lerma, the Crystal Palace midfielder, is free to make a full return after serving a one-match ban against Panama last weekend.
