Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a fine start to life under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo, in the Premier League at least. After beating the reigning champions Manchester City 1-0 on the opening weekend, the Lilywhites beat Santo’s former club Wolves in their second match by the same scoreline on Sunday.
It wasn’t the perfect start in Europe for the Portuguese boss though, as his new side slipped to a 1-0 defeat against the odds in his home country against Pacos de Ferreira. As such, Tottenham will need to put in a much improved performance to turn the tie around in the second leg.
This match represents arguably the biggest European tie in Pacos de Ferreira’s history. Having only qualified for Europe in three previous seasons, their only victories have come against Moldovan and Northern Irish minnows Zimbru Chisinau and Larne thus far.
Os Castores haven’t had the best start to the Primeira Liga season this time around. Despite starting with a 2-0 win over Famalicao, they’ve since slipped to defeats to both Boavista and Estoril, conceding six goals in the process. It’d be a special night for the club if they were to hold onto their lead in North London.

Pacos have conceded three goals in each of their last two Primeira Liga fixtures and we expect Spurs to win this one by three or more in front of their own fans.
Dele Alli started the Premier League campaign with a fine performance in Tottenham’s win over Manchester City and the English midfielder opened his account for the season from the penalty spot at Molineux on Sunday. With confidence high, he’ll back himself for another goal here.
