Swansea vs Man City: Predictions
Swansea are currently in good standing in the Championship, sitting third, just two points off leaders Norwich City with a game in hand, in their quest to return to the Premier League. The Swans moved up to second thanks to a 2-0 win over Norwich at the weekend, extending their unbeaten run across all competitions to 10 games, stretching back to before Christmas.
In the FA Cup, Swansea have been largely untroubled, beating Stevenage 2-0 and fellow Championship side Nottingham Forest 5-1 to reach the fifth round for the third time in four seasons. A third-round exit last season brought a run of back-to-back quarter-finals to an end, though they were knocked out of the 2018/19 final eight by Man City.
For a while Man City weren’t being considered as title contenders but they now sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a game in hand on those below them. The lead was extended at the weekend thanks to an emphatic 4-1 win at Anfield against Liverpool, to continue their excellent winning run.
But they will not just have their eyes on the league. Man City have already reached the League Cup final and they have a favourable draw against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League last-16, not to mention this FA Cup fifth round tie. Birmingham and Cheltenham were the two teams beaten by Man City so far in the FA Cup this season, and they will be confident of a repeat of 2018/19 to reach a third-consecutive quarter-final.
Swansea vs Man City: Match Stats
Pep Guardiola loves rotation and one player likely to start in midweek is Ferran Torres. The Spaniard has had to be patient this season, but when given time he has taken his opportunities, scoring eight goals in 1,359 minutes including one strike in the FA Cup.
Man City’s climb to the top of the Premier League and their cup progress has come down to an excellent winning run across all competitions, now at 14 – the joint-record for an English top-flight club. But while that feat is remarkable on its own, it’s made even better by the fact Man City have conceded just four goals and kept 10 clean sheets.

Swansea fans will still be seething from the last meeting between these two sides in which Man City required some questionable decisions in their favour to knock the Champions League side out of the FA Cup. But the Citizens have dominated this fixture, winning the past six games across all competitions and unbeaten in 14 games (12 wins, two draws) since a shock 1-0 Swansea win in 2012.
