Southampton enter this contest on the back of a 2-0 away loss to Leicester in the Premier League, undoing the exceptional work of their giantkilling against reigning champions Liverpool in the preceding match, and Ralph Hasenhuttl will be hopeful of getting back to winning ways against third-tier opposition.
The Saints have already crashed out of a domestic competition in the first stage of their inclusion this campaign, losing 2-0 to Brentford in the second round of the League Cup back in September, but the club are unbeaten in their last 30 home FA Cup matches against sides from a lower division.

During Southampton’s League One promotion campaign under Nigel Adkins in 2010/11 the Saints clinched victory over Shrewsbury at St Mary’s in the first round of the FA Cup, which was the first meeting between the clubs in 17 years.
