Man United started well against Burnley but once more performed for only 45 minutes in a fixture that ended 1-1. The result means that United are unbeaten in four but have won just three of their last seven. Keeping clean-sheets is an issue for the Red Devils who have done this in just one of their last seven. United have lost the second-half in each of their last two and three of their last five.
At Old Trafford, they won four of their last five in the Premier League but did only draw with Middlesbrough here in the FA Cup last weekend. Three of the last five league games here have finished 1-0. Cristiano Ronaldo has three goals from his last five starts at this ground but was on the bench in midweek. The last two home league games have seen no goals before the 80th minute.
Southampton will enter this game full of confidence after twice coming from behind to defeat Tottenham 3-2. It continues their recent run of good form that has seen them lose just one of their last seven Premier League matches. Each of their last seven in the top flight and nine of ten have seen both teams net. Armando Broja has two goals in his last four while James Ward-Prowse has two in five.
On the road, the Saints have won two of their last three with victories coming at West Ham and Tottenham. Their last four road games have seen both teams score while their last seven have gone over 2.5 goals. James Ward-Prowse has three in his last four on his travels while Mo Elyounoussi has two in three away appearances. Six of their last eight away goals have come after the break.
Man United vs Southampton: Match Stats
Man United were dominant in the first 45 minutes against Burnley in midweek and anonymous in the second 45 minutes. Saints meanwhile have recent wins at West Ham and Tottenham and a home draw with Man City. The Saints are capable of getting something and the best way to get with them is taking them to win at least one half as the Red Devils have lost at least one half in three of their last five.
Southampton have a number of attacking options but one player who looked lively in midweek was Stuart Armstrong. The Scot is an important part of the Saints team and he registered a number of key touches and four shots in the game with Tottenham. Virgin Bet have him in double figures to score at any time and that looks great value.
