We’re over the halfway stage of the Championship season, with 19 games left to play, and Sheffield United are looking in a comfortable position to secure a return to the Premier League after two years out. The Blades are already a massive 11 points clear of third-placed Watford and are unbeaten in seven games in the league, including all six since the Championship returned from its World Cup break.
The seven-game unbeaten run has also included six wins, with QPR the only team to take points away from Sheffield United since Rotherham pulled off a 1-0 win at Bramall Lane. Sheffield United have also secured their spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup, having beat fellow Championship side Millwall, with Wrexham next up.
Hull are out of the FA Cup, losing to Fulham in the third round, but that means they can put their full focus on the task at hand in the Championship. The Tigers are one of a large number of teams in a weird position in the table, where to be frank their position doesn’t really matter.
Liam Rosenior’s side are 16th, but just seven points outside the play-off spots and unbeaten in six in the league, though only two of those were wins. However, they must also keep an eye over their shoulder, only eight points above the relegation zone. Their form at this stage could really make or break Hull’s season.
