Sheffield United’s current spell in the Premier League appears to be winding down, as they currently sit bottom of the table and 12 points from safety with 15 games left to play. It isn’t an impossible amount to recover, especially with their recent form, but time is against them.
Prior to their FA Cup third round tie against Bristol Rovers at the start of January, Sheffield United had gone 18 games without a win across all competitions, but a 3-2 victory started a turnaround. Including FA Cup wins over Bristol Rovers and Plymouth, Sheffield United have won four of their past eight games and are looking to reach the quarter-final for the second consecutive season.
Having already faced Bristol Rovers, Sheffield United’s next opponents are their rivals, Championship side Bristol City. The Robins are currently in the top half of the Championship and still considered for the play-off race, only six points behind sixth-placed Bournemouth (though they were league leaders in October).
However, Bristol City go into this game in poor form, losing their past three games including one against relegation-battling Derby County.
