Barcelona vs Sevilla: Predictions
These two sides meet for the third time in a month as they are set to battle it out for a place in the Copa del Rey final and it is Sevilla who carry the advantage over to the Nou Camp after their 2-0 win in the first leg of the semi-final.
Coincidentally the two sides also met on the weekend in the league where Barca ran out 2-0 winners to keep some pressure on La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid. Goals from Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi sealed the three points for Barça and will give the Spanish giants some confidence going into Wednesday’s second leg clash.
The record 30-times champions certainly have an uphill battle if they are to progress to the final, however, if anyone can do it it is them. Given their emphatic defeat to PSG in the Champions League, this is likely to be Ronald Koeman’s only chance of lifting silverware this season so we can expect him to field a strong side.
Barça will likely be without experienced defender Gerard Pique who had to be substituted in the weekend’s clash due to injury which may force Koeman into playing with even more attacking intent as he aims to keep the pressure off his defence.

Barcelona vs Sevilla: Match Stats
If Barça are to progress they are more than likely going to be dragged through the game by their little magician, Lionel Messi. The Argentine is still leading the La Liga top scorer tally with 19 goals – despite not quite hitting the levels set by himself over the years.
Despite conceding two goals to Koeman’s side on the weekend, Sevilla (18) have conceded fewer goals in the league this season than Barça (22) which is the second-fewest in the league – only behind Atletico Madrid (16) – which will give Julen Lopetegui hope his side can prevail against the La Liga giants.
27 February 2021 – Sevilla 0-2 Barcelona – La Liga
10 February 2021 – Sevilla 2-0 Barcelona – Copa del Rey
4 November 2020 – Barcelona 1-1 Sevilla – La Liga
19 June 2020 – Sevilla 0-0 Barcelona – La Liga
Sevilla’s recent record against Barcelona is pretty impressive and despite losing on the weekend to Koeman’s side they have shown over the previous meetings they have what it takes to hold Barcelona to a draw which would be enough to see them into the final.
