8/5 @ Sky Bet 23/10 @ Sky Bet 8/5 @ Sky Bet

San Jose Earthquakes are clinging onto a play-off position with 12 games of the regular season remaining in MLS. The Californian franchise have a pretty woeful record in recent years, reaching the final stages of the league just twice over the last ten seasons and losing in Round One of the play-offs on both occasions. As such, they’ll be delighted to be in seventh place as things stand – even if Houston Dynamo and Vancouver Whitecaps are close behind with games in hand.

Seattle Sounders are looking more comfortable in the Western Conference than their Wednesday night opponents. They are currently second in the table behind league newcomers St Louis City and are one of the most successful teams in the league in recent years, with MLS Cup wins in 2016 and 2019 and a Concacaf Champions League victory last year. As such, they’re minimum expectation is usually to finish in the play-off and with seven points separating them from eighth-placed Houston as things stand, that seems likely again this year.

San Jose Earthquakes vs Seattle Sounders goalscorer tip

Cristian Espinoza to score first @ 15/2 with Bet365

San Jose’s star man of late has been winger Cristian Espinoza, who scored in his last two matches and has done his best to fill the Chris Wondolowski-shaped hole in the SJE squad over the last two seasons. He’s on 10 league goals in this campaign and, with an average of 1.7, tops the Quakes’ shots per game chart.

San Jose have drawn each of their last two matches to take their total of draws this season to eight, with only two MLS teams tying more games so far this term. Both teams have scored in each of their last four matches, while five goals were shared in Seattle’s last outing, a 2-3 win at Vancouver.
