A win for Russia and they are through to the knockout stages of the tournament – it is that simple. Stanislav Cherchesov’s men boosted their hopes of making it into the final 16 of the competition with their narrow victory over Finland on Thursday afternoon thanks to the first-half goal from Aleksei Miranchuk which proved the difference on the day.
Denmark have had a rotten Euro 2020 so far. Apart from the obvious devastating scenes in Copenhagen against Finland, the Danes have been unable to get a point on the board. The defeat against Finland was followed up by a defeat against Belgium despite a stunning start from Kasper Hjulmand.
Russia were torn apart by Belgium in their opening game of the tournament which will give Denmark some confidence with their emphatic first-half display against the Red Devils in mind. However, Russia will certainly prefer to be in their position with their Euro 2020 destiny firmly in their own hands.
Hjulmand’s men may not be able to qualify as runners-up of Group B, but they are still well within a chance of making it out of the group as one of the best third-placed sides. With Christian Eriksen now out of hospital following his horrific incident, his teammates will be looking to put a smile back on the faces of the Danish supporters with a win in Copenhagen on Monday.

Denmark may have only netted on one occasion in this tournament, however, they came into the competition having scored 21 goals in their seven games leading up to the competition. The events in Copenhagen during their opening tournament certainly will have had an effect on the side but if they show a similar display seen against Belgium then they will prove a threat to Russia’s backline.
