Rangers vs Celtic: Predictions
For the fourth time this year Rangers and Celtic meet in the Old Firm, with Steven Gerrard’s men just three games away from going unbeaten across the entire Scottish Premiership campaign and embellishing their title heroics with ‘Invincible’ status, but their Glasgow rivals will be gearing themselves up to prevent that from happening this weekend.
The Gers confirmed their record 55th Scottish title in March, ending a decade-long wait for domestic supremacy and usurping the Parkhead club’s stranglehold in the process, but now Gerrard and his side will be aiming to see out these next three games without any hiccups, ensuring they complete the campaign in unbeaten fashion.
So, while there is little to play for in terms of the outcome of the division, the Old Firm remains one of the most adrenaline-fuelled and impassioned derbies in world football, so don’t expect either side to be resting on their laurels, Celtic as well, who will be desperate to end The Gers’ unbeaten run.
With Glaswegian bragging rights on the line as well, interim boss John Kennedy will be eyeing up a strong end to the season and marking his temporary stint as memorable if he can mastermind a win and be the man who finally took down Gerrard’s Gers in 2020/21.

Rangers vs Celtic: Match Stats
Despite the magnitude of the occasion and the fireworks on the turf, this fixture hasn’t been particularly free-scoring in recent times. Across the last 11 meetings in all competitions, nine have finished with under 2.5 goals, and with much at stake for the hosts, in particular, they may be cautious of getting sucked into a scrap, instead taking a more methodical and pragmatic approach.
However, while that may be the plan pre-match, heads have the propensity to get lost in Old Firms, and that is where Alfredo Morelos will need to temper his emotions. The Colombian is an absolute weapon going forward but his Achilles’ heel is in the discipline department, currently ranking in the top 10 for most yellow cards in the division this season (seven), the only Old Firm player in that category.
21 Mar 2021 – Celtic 1-1 Rangers – Scottish Premiership
02 Jan 2021 – Rangers 1-0 Celtic – Scottish Premiership
17 Oct 2020 – Celtic 0-2 Rangers – Scottish Premiership
29 Dec 2019 – Celtic 1-2 Rangers – Scottish Premiership
In recent years the Old Firm has been dominated by the blue half of Glasgow, with Rangers currently unbeaten in the last five meetings, and winning four of those contests, including the league match at Ibrox in January, in which a Callum McGregor own separated the sides and really tipped the title in Gerrard’s direction.
