Portugal vs France: Betting tips, predictions, odds and match preview
Saturday’s stand-out Nations League clash sees Portugal take on France in Lisbon with the Seleccao looking to extend their unbeaten run to nine matches.
Portugal vs France: Predictions
Two of the favourites for next summer’s European Championships will face off in the Nations League on Saturday evening and with the home advantage and the stronger recent form, Portugal will come into their clash with France as favourites.
The Seleccao have now gone eight games without tasting defeat, a run that included a goalless draw with les Bleus last month as well as a tie with a strong Spain outfit and wins over Sweden and Croatia.
They may be reigning European Champions, but Portugal will face the reigning World Champions here. France’s squad is packed with serious quality, but they’ve been susceptible to dips in form since lifting the trophy in Russia.
Didier Deschamps’ side were beaten by Finland in their last fixture but given how this group is set, with these two teams on 10 points with just two games remaining, a win either way is likely to decide this group on Saturday evening.

Portugal vs France: Stats
Portugal are in the better form of these two teams at the moment, having gone eight matches without tasting defeat, while France lost their last game to Finland. The last meeting between these sides before they were drawn in the Nations League was that fateful Euro 2016 final, won by the Seleccao at Stade de France.
Diogo Jota is in blistering form for his club Liverpool, scoring six times in his last five club matches for Liverpool. He also bagged a brace in the Seleccao’s win over Sweden last month, so we fancy him for a goal here.
05 Jul 2006 – France 1-0 Portugal (FIFA World Cup)
11 Oct 2014 – France 2-1 Portugal (International Friendly)
04 Sep 2015 – Portugal 0-1 France (International Friendly)
10 Jul 2016 – Portugal 1-0 France – (UEFA European Championship)
11 Oct 2020 – France 0-0 Portugal D 0-0 (UEFA Nations League)
The reverse fixture between these two sides last month ended goalless and indeed Portugal have now won just one of their last 12 meetings with the French – but it was easily the most important of the 12.
With the home advantage in Euro 2016, France were heavy favourites heading into the final but despite an injury to star man Ronaldo, the Seleccao were able to get their hands on the trophy thanks to Eder’s goal in extra time.
