Portugal were denied victory against the Netherlands by a close-range Brian Brobbey equaliser last time out. Portugal had taken the lead midway through the first half, with André Almeida applying a first-time finish after good work by Pedro Neto. The 2021 runners-up could have sealed the win in added time, but Oranje goalie Bart Verbruggen denied substitute Francisco Conceição and Portugal remain a point off second place.

Belgium, meanwhile, lost two points late on. Giorgi Tsitaishvili and Giorgi Guliashvili came off the bench to turn the game on its head as Georgia came from 2-0 down to draw in front of a U21 Euro final tournament record-breaking crowd in Tbilisi. Belgium, who drew their opener with the Netherlands, had looked more than comfortable with Maxim De Cuyper heading their first on 15 minutes before Largie Ramazani found the top corner with another header seven minutes before the break.

A win for Portugal and Georgia avoiding defeat against the Netherlands will see them progress into the knockout stage. Belgium just need to match Netherlands’ result, without losing to Portugal, to progress.
