Euro 2024 hosts Germany resume their summer friendly schedule with a game against Poland who have looked inconsistent since last winter’s World Cup finals. Since their last-16 exit to eventual runners-up France, the Polish FA parted company with Czesław Michniewicz and have since appointed Fernando Santos who famously guided Portugal to European Championship glory in 2016. His first game in charge, a Euro 2024 qualifier, saw the Poles suffer a 3-1 loss at Czech Republic but they’ve since turned it around by claiming a 1-0 success over Albania last time out. Robert Lewandowski, no stranger to Germany, is yet to score under Santos with Damian Szymański and Karol Świderski sharing the goals so far. After taking on Germany on Friday, Poland return to Euro 2024 qualifying with a trip to face Moldova.

As for Germany, it was another disappointing World Cup finals performance as they bowed out at the group stage. Post-Qatar, Hansi Flick’s men picked up a 2-0 win over Peru but are now winless in their last two. The run started with a 3-2 defeat to Belgium, a friendly of course as Germany are not taking part in Euro 2024 qualifying, while on Monday they had to rely on a late comeback to draw 3-3 with Ukraine. Niclas Fullkrug, unsurprisingly, found the net in that draw, taking his tally to seven goals in seven games for Die Mannschaft.
