David Moyes has a lot of work to do this summer with two of his backroom staff departing in Paul Nevin and Mark Warburton, while his skipper and most influential player, Declan Rice, is inching ever closer to an Arsenal move. So, the rebuild job is huge as he prepares for a third successive European season.
West Ham, of course, won the Europa Conference League last month, but the club are set to revamp the entire structure of their operation. Tim Steidten has been brought in as the club’s new technical director while sporting director Mark Noble is experiencing his first summer upstairs.
So far, they are one of only three clubs yet to make a summer signing, but that didn’t affect their first pre-season match as they beat Boreham Wood 4-1 earlier this week. Next up on the agenda is a tour of Australia, starting with a match-up against Perth Glory, before attention turns to Tottenham next week.

Perth Glory vs West Ham match stats
West Ham had several young players on display against Boreham Wood on Monday, and that may be the new directive going forward with former academy star, captain and now-sporting director Noble keen to create a pathway from the youth ranks to the first team. West Ham’s U18s won the FA Youth Cup last season at the expense of Arsenal, winning 5-1 at the Emirates, and several of those stars were on display earlier this week, with youngsters Kamarai Simon-Swyer and Gideon Kodua getting on the scoresheet.
As for the first-teamers, Danny Ings has struggled for significant minutes since transferring from Aston Villa in January, but he did make a few vital contributions when he did play. The 30-year-old bagged an important goal against Gent in the Conference League quarter-finals, scored twice against Nottingham Forest in a relegation six-pointer and provided assists in games against Leeds and Leicester. He was also on the scoresheet against Boreham Wood on Monday, and should feature heavily this summer.
