Blackpool vs Oxford: Predictions
Though a close game was initially expected, Blackpool blew Oxford away at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday, running out 3-0 winners thanks to a brace from Everton loanee Ellis Simms after Ollie Turton had opened the scoring on 23 minutes.
Despite home advantage, Oxford managed just one shot on target on the night and totally failed to live up to their billing as one of the most potent attacking forces in League One.
Still, Blackpool manager Neil Critchley won’t be resting on his laurels and will be well aware that this tie isn’t over until the final whistle. He’ll expect nothing less than a professional performance from his players to book their place at Wembley against either Lincoln City or Sunderland.

Blackpool vs Oxford: Match Stats
This match pits the league’s best defence in Blackpool, who conceded just 37 goals this term, against the third-best attack in Oxford, who racked up 77 strikes across the course of the season. Of course, we saw a role reversal in the first leg as the Seasiders tore United apart.
Although Oxford need to score three goals on Friday, they haven’t achieved that feat against Blackpool since November 1994, a run spanning 15 games. They haven’t found the net at all in their last three meetings with the Seasiders.
Ellis Simms scored a brace in the first leg to take his total to 10 for the season in just 22 appearances since joining on loan from Everton in January. His rate of 0.6 goals per 90 minutes is the best among the Blackpool squad.
