Premier League tips for this weekend
The Premier League is drawing to a close but there are still plenty of loose ends to be tied up in the final few weeks and some hugely important games still to be played. If you fancy your chances of winning some cash prizes, you can get involved with the Karamba Battle this weekend on the Premier League fixtures and face off against Squawka writers and readers as well as other Karamba users to attempt to win the latest tournament and reign supreme.
Leeds vs Tottenham
After his stunning hat-trick against Sheffield United last weekend, Tottenham Hotspur’s loan superstar Gareth Bale is now averaging 1.11 goals per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season, which is the best record in the division.
The Welshman has struggled for consistent minutes all season, but has shown glimpses of his brilliant best at times. With his confidence surely high following that performance against the Blades, we’re backing him to put another Yorkshire outfit to the sword with his tenth league goal of the season at Elland Road.
Southampton ground out a 1-0 victory against Liverpool when the two teams met earlier in the season and we anticipate another low-scoring match-up between the two teams when they meet again this Saturday afternoon.
The Reds’ last three matches have all seen fewer than three goals scored while the Saints are struggling in front of goal at the moment and have found the net just twice across their last four matches.
Manchester United have been taking some time to get going in their recent Premier League matches. The Red Devils have failed to score in the first half of any of their last five league games, going behind against the likes of Tottenham and Brighton before rescuing the victories from improved second-half displays.
Aston Villa on the other hand have been quick out of the blocks lately. The Villains have scored the first goal in each of their last four league games (despite only going on to win one), with three of those opening goals coming in the first 15 minutes of their fixtures versus Everton, West Brom and Man City.
With little riding on their Premier League campaign and this fixture against 19th-placed West Brom coming just a few days after their Europa League semi-final with Villarreal, we’re not expecting much of a performance from an Arsenal outfit that have won just one of their last five league games at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners may even play a heavily rotated squad here, but they’ll come up against a Baggies outfit that, although essentially already relegated, have improved of late. Sam Allardyce’s men have lost just one of their last five, beating Chelsea and Southampton in that run.
So how does the Karamba Battle work? Well, once you’ve opted in, you can head to the widget on the site – or just above on this very page, find the tournaments you want to compete in and simply click join to get started.
Then, place your bets as normal and providing they land within the parameters of the tournament – i.e. minimum stake, minimum odds and minimum bets placed, you will have the opportunity to rise up – or fall down – the leaderboard.
There are cash prizes to be won, as well as awards to be won for other specifics – such as the most successful accumulator bettor or the best at backing a particular market – and since the points you earn aren’t tied to your stake, you can compete for prizes without having to stake large amounts.
This weekend’s Squawka Battle centres around the Premier League but you can also place your Premier League bets like ours above in any of the Football Beat the Bot Tournaments for your chance to compete for the prizes.
