Slovakia odds: To win Euro 2020, how far will they go, top scorer and more
Slovakia will be aiming to better their Round of 16 exit in the 2016 European Championship which was their first ever visit to the competition.
Since gaining independence, Slovakia have only ever qualified for two European Championships – 2016 and this summer’s tournament. Having progressed in third place of Group B in 2016, Slovakia were dumped out of the competition by Germany in an emphatic 3-0 defeat.
However, Pavel Hapal’s side have now qualified for back-to-back Euros for the first time in their history, with Inter Milan’s centre-back Milan Skriniar leading the back line to this summer’s tournament.
There are not many people who will be backing Slovakia to go all the way this summer, but can they improve on their Round of 16 finish from five years ago?
Slovakia Euro 2020 Odds
With such a lack of major tournament experience, Slovakia enter the tournament as one of the big outsiders to lift the trophy this summer. You can find Slovakia at a huge price of 150/1 to win the tournament.
However, they did progress from the group stages at Euro 2016 and group opponents Poland aren’t Sweden particularly reliable, so perhaps backing them to qualify from Group E at odds of 11/8 would offer some value.
Slovakia have recently made an unbeaten start in their 2022 World Cup Qualifiers having won one of their three qualifying games – drawing the other two. Sitting just one point off the top spot in their group, Hapal will be looking to their recent victory over Russia as inspiration ahead of this summer’s tournament.
Slovakia’s potential path to Euro 2020 final
Slovakia finished third in their qualification group for this summer’s competition, and qualified for the tournament through the play-off stages. They booked their spot at the finals after beating Northern Ireland in a 2-1 victory away from home.
The Falcons begin their journey in this summer’s competition against Poland, before matches against Sweden and then Spain. Their opening two games will be held in Russia before traveling to Seville for their final game of the group stage against Spain.

If Slovakia win Group E
If Slovakia were to win Group E, this would be their route through to the final.
Last 16: The third-placed side Group A/B/C/D (likely contenders for which are Wales, Turkey, Switzerland, Russia, Denmark, Ukraine, Austria) in Glasgow on June 29.
Quarter-finals: The winner of Last-16 match 8, which is played between the winner of Group D (England favourites) and the Group F runners-up (Likely Hungary, Portugal, France or Germany.)
Semi-finals: The same groups are included for the semi-final but with Group C winners (Netherlands favourites) potentially involved.
If Slovakia qualify from Group E
If Slovakia don’t win Group E, but qualify (11/8 with Sky Bet) it becomes a lot more complicated.
Last 16: Face the second-placed Group D side, which could be any of England, Croatia, Scotland or Czech Republic, in Copenhagen on June 28th.
Quarter Finals: The winner of Last-16 match 6, which is played between the winner of Group F (which includes Portugal, Germany and France) and the third place in A, B or C, likely contenders for which are Wales, Turkey, Switzerland, Russia, Denmark, Ukraine and Austria.
Semi-finals: The winner of that Quarter Final will play the winner of Quarter Final Match 1 which could include the winner of Group A or Group B (expected to be Italy and Belgium).
If Slovakia finish third in their group and do enough to be among the best third-placed teams, they would play the winner of Group B and then join the path they’d take if they won Group B (talk about over-complicating things!)
Slovakia Golden Boot odds
None of Slovakia’s players are seen to be in the betting for the Golden Boot. Captain Marek Hamsik is the country’s leading all-time scorer with 26 goals and youngster Robert Bozenik of Feyenoord could be one to watch having scored four times in his first 15 caps.
