Burnley vs Arsenal Tip
It’s not been Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s best season in an Arsenal shirt, and yet the Gabonese striker has still managed to rack up 13 goals for the Gunners. After his Europa League brace against Benfica last weekend, we’re backing the 31 year old to be too clever for the Burnley defence at Turf Moor.
First goalscorer pick: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Sheffield United vs Southampton Tip
Last season, Sheffield United’s David McGoldrick struggled for goals in an overachieving side. This season, despite the Blades struggles, he has tripled his tally with six goals and after scoring the winner against Aston Villa in midweek, we’re backing the Irishman to find the net again as Southampton visit Bramall Lane.
First goalscorer pick:David McGoldrick
Aston Villa vs Wolves Tip
Long-range expert Ruben Neves failed to score a single Premier League goal in 2020, but has found the net five times in 11 league fixtures since the turn of the year. With Nuno Espirito Santo’s men seeking revenge on Aston Villa following a home defeat in the reverse fixture, could the Portuguese midfielder provide a moment of magic from midfield on Saturday evening?
First goalscorer pick: Ruben Neves
Brighton vs Leicester Tip
Brighton & Hove Albion have been creating plenty of chances and failing to convert them of late, whereas Leicester City have a forward they can almost always rely on in front of goal in the evergreen Jamie Vardy. The 34 year old has scored 14 times in all competitions this season but with no goals in five, he will hope to return to the scoresheet on the south coast this weekend.
First goalscorer pick: Jamie Vardy
The shot map of Leicester’s Jamie Vardy shows him to be a literal ‘fox in the box.’
West Brom vs Newcastle
Newcastle have dropped to within touching distance of the relegation zone and they’re now set to face 19th placed West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns. The Baggies have lost just one of their last four and will hope that their star man Matheus Pereira can recapture the form that saw him score five times in January to help their diminishing survival hopes with what would be a pivotal home win here.
First goalscorer pick: Matheus Pereira
Liverpool vs Fulham Tip
Much has been made of Liverpool’s dreadful home form of late. The Reds have lost five consecutive Premier League games at Anfield and although Fulham are still in the relegation zone, we can see them piling more misery on the Reds. Energetic forward Josh Maja scored his two previous Cottagers goals on Merseyside against Everton – can he find the net again here?
First goalscorer pick: Josh Maja
Man City vs Man Utd Tip
Ilkay Gundogan has been in resplendent form for Manchester City this season. Having never previously managed more than six league goals in a season, the German midfielder has managed 11 this term including braces against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. With Manchester United’s form unpredictable at best right now, City will hope their in-form star can make the difference in the derby.
First goalscorer pick: Ilkay Gundogan
Tottenham vs Crystal Palace Tip
Gareth Bale seems to have finally found his shooting boots after an inconsistent first six months back in North London. After his brace in Tottenham’s win over Burnley last weekend, the Welshman now has four goals from his last five games for the Lilywhites and will hope to add to that tally by opening the scoring against London rivals Crystal Palace this weekend.
First goalscorer pick: Gareth Bale
Chelsea vs Everton Tip
Olivier Giroud was afforded a rest as Chelsea won at Anfield in midweek, but the Frenchman has been called upon by Thomas Tuchel on a few occasions so far and delivered important goals against Atletico Madrid and Newcastle. The ex-Arsenal man will hope to make another good impression against one of Chelsea’s top four rivals in Everton.
First goalscorer pick: Olivier Giroud
West Ham vs Leeds Tip
Few pundits will have expected Patrick Bamford to be quite so prolific in the Premier League this season. The 27 year old’s strike in last weekend’s win over Southampton took his tally to 13 so far this season and we envisage him opening the scoring in what’s likely to be an entertaining Monday night fixture against high-flying West Ham.
