Crawley vs Exeter betting tip

Crawley Town have been in woeful form since their FA Cup run went to the fourth round, and, with their win over Colchester United excepted, they have been on the slide for all of 2021, and what had once appeared to be a very promising campaign indeed in the league has now given way to mid-table mediocrity at best, unless there is a big turnaround in the final third of the season. The main problem for John Yems during the current barren spell has been scoring goals, a fact made all the worse by the departure of top scorer Max Watts to Championship outfit Cardiff City during the winter transfer window. Ashley Nadesan, whose signing was seen as something of a coup back in the summer of 2019, has not produced much of note for the Red Devils to date. Exeter City are the highest scoring side in the whole league, and it is on the back of that they’ve clawed their way back into the play-offs. Versatile forward Matt Jay will probably operate off the main striker in a 4-4-1-1 on Saturday, and his ability to operate in between the lines could see a significant number of goals to add to their already healthy tally by 17:00.

Harrogate vs Grimsby betting tip

Harrogate Town’s last six games have been a veritable mixed bag, picking up three wins and succumbing to three defeats. The continuation of that form into the run-in will ensure that the Sulphurites’ stay in the EFL is not an all too brief one, and it was capped off in midweek by an eye-catching 1-0 victory over monied Mansfield Town. It might be a new forward line to face the challenge of bottom side Grimsby Town on Saturday, and the Mariners’ win over Crawley felt like the basis of a real turning point under Paul Hurst. Brentford loanee Joe Adams scored one and assisted the other, and the talented young winger will be expected to keep up that level of performance if the Cleethorpes based club are to avoid a return to the National League. Stefan Payne is the sole striker ahead of a bank of five in midfield, and he should profit from the accuracy of Adams’ crosses, but he will need runners in and around him if Grimsby are to power themselves off the foot of the 92.

Southend vs Salford betting tip

Southend United had the headline-grabbing result of midweek in League Two, besting Forest Green Rovers 3-1 in their own backyard, courtesy of two phenomenal strikes that readers really need to see for themselves. The Shrimpers need to make the most of their upcoming games in order to stave off the challenge below them from Barrow and Grimsby, both of whom have two vital fixtures in hand as the battle to survive relegation begins to intensify. Salford City are the visitors on Saturday to Roots Hall; the Ammies under possession hungry boss Richie Wellens rarely concede more than one, but did just that in midweek, losing at home to fellow north west side and League Two shock troops Morecambe. They can boast one of the tightest defences and one of the best attacking setups in the division, but might not have the upcoming clash all to themselves if Southend can replicate their display from Wednesday.
