Ronald Koeman’s men were involved in a chaotic, six-goal thriller at De Kuip on Wednesday, but they just came up short in extra time. His side worked wonders to force the game beyond 90 minutes after Noa Lang equalised at the death in normal time, but they capitulated after that.
Italy meanwhile also fell to late heartache. Ciro Immobile restored parity for Roberto Mancini’s men less than 10 minutes after Yeremy Pino broke the deadlock — and from there the game jostled between entertaining and scrappy. Joselu ultimately stepped up in the 88th minute to bag Spain the winner, and condemn Italy to this showdown.

Netherlands vs Italy match stats
Jorginho was exceptional for large spells against Spain, playing some sublime, defence-splitting passes, with one world-class ball setting Davide Frattesi free from Jordi Alba’s grasp — and he thought he put Italy 2-1 up, only for the goal to be chalked off for a marginal offside from VAR. Still, the weight of the pass and vision from Jorginho was nothing short of mesmeric. In fact, he played more key passes against Spain than any other player for Italy.
Cody Gakpo was typically involved in his side’s meeting with Croatia. He conceded the penalty on Luka Modric that led to Croatia’s first lead, but he certainly tried his best at the other end of the pitch. His three shots in the game was more than any other player on the pitch, and he will be desperate to translate that to something tangible on Sunday, making amends for his penalty mistake on Wednesday.
